Misa Edito:
Germain and I escaped the heat and humidity of Tokyo... and traveled to the southern hemisphere to celebrate my birthday. New Zealand is absolutely brilliant in winter! It never got too cold... and there was just soooo much to see and do. We spent the first 2 days in and around Auckland- Sky Tower always serving as a visible landmark. We took the ferry boat to Devonport to get a view of Auckland at sunset, from atop Mt. Victoria. And managed the 16km Coast-to-Coast walkway, touching on all the main points: Albert Park, the university, the domain, Mt. Eden (the highest volcanic cone in the area- though only 196m... and 50m down into the crater), One Tree Hill (the largest and most populous of the Maori pa), and of course detouring to have a picnic lunch from K Rd. We were just taking it easy... for the adventures that were to follow... |
