My sister Emi and her friend Sara came to visit Japan for just under 2 weeks. They spent the first few days in and around
Tokyo... of course checking out busy
Shibuya; the cool festivals, shops and people of
Harajuku; the temples and shrines around
Asakusa... the usual stuff. They then made good use of their JR Rail Passes and spent a week travelling- the romanticized allure of
Kyoto, the night-life of
Osaka, the temples and history of
Nara, the devastation and rebirth of
Hiroshima and made a special trip to
Nagano to see those playful monkeys everyone loves.
There was lots of eating and
World Cup soccer to be watched (in Japanese, sorry guys). And the final night Leo and Rie accompanied us for the "real" Japan experience: dinner at an
izakaya, purikura and gaming at one of the many arcades, and capped off with singing into the night. Drinks and monster ballads... enough said! ^^
