As a birthday present realized months after the fact... I wanted to give Germain the holidays in the States. He arrived at JFK and it was straight into tourist mode! As he is the better planner between the 2 of us, I was the hostess, but ended up just tagging along while he got to see why “I love New York!”
During our first week in NYC, we managed the bitter cold and did: the “out, in and up” of the Empire State Building... the holiday windows of
Macy’s... the impressive architecture of the New York Public Library... were surprised by the festivities at Bryant Park and it’s ice-skating rink right behind the library...the glitter and neon of
Times Square (and the hordes of kids around MTV studios)... and of course the night lighting of
Rockefeller Center (the tree, the tourists, the snowflake light display on SAKS’ façade across the way)... the infamous Flatiron building (though under construction)... and a tour of the galleries of
Chelsea (and the piers). And that was just the first time around...
